Our promise to you

The photos we capture are hand chosen, edited, and delivered by us. This means, we do not outsource any part of the creative process but personally work with your photographs from start to finish; carefully piecing together the unique story of your love. We believe as wedding and elopement photographers that our job is not simply to photograph you, but to work alongside you and to truly tell your story from your perspective, not our own. We promise to invest in you and your adventure, to document your unique story as if it were our own.

Hello there!

My name is Micah Emily and I am the primary creative behind & Two Were Tamed. I am a type 7 and if you know what that means then you can imagine me giving you jazz hands right now and laughing with you about it. Here’s a bit of my backstory: I was born and raised the "wild & free" middle child of my tightly knit family. Growing up I lived 18 miles from town, out in the country of Western OK. As a kid you had to have a wild imagination out there and most of my time was spent playing in wheat fields and creeks with my two best friends, my siblings. It was small town life and I graduated with a shocking 26 people. After some college (insert a very boring story here), I moved to Breckenridge, Colorado, to be a ski bum for a year. I instead fell in love with the mountains. Since then, I have taken a few brief stints from Colorado to travel, like the time my best girlfriend and I took mud season to hitch hike across the U.S. for 3 months. There is so much to write on the subject of traveling and adventuring but we can talk about all of that in person as I want to hear your stories too! I did later return to school to become an EMT and when that was not enough trauma I went back for my BSN. With that in mind, you will have a photographer and an ER nurse on board in case the dance floor gets a bit too rowdy!

With photography, I was a kid when I picked up my first camera. Always taking my grandma’s disposables to snap photos of our family and to be honest, mostly our pets. I fell in love with the documentary side of photography through this and I’ve never looked back.

Random bits and pieces: My greatest strength is in the ability to make other humans feel comfortable, wanted, and known, it’s what I believe most of us desire in our deepest roots. My weakness, cocoa covered cashews and stories about Bigfoot. I like to wake up at dawn to run before the world awakens from its slumber, even though I can’t always pry my eyes open and its impossible without coffee; morning joe was a ritual in my family and it remains, deeply ingrained within my soul.

I do this life thing with the best furry babes and a husband who is a tall drink of water! Our dogs are miss Kyote Elaine and miss Finley Jay. Kyote is a spunky sled dog who loves the outdoors and occasionally tearing apart the trash when we’re not home. Finley is a lover who never veers very far from our side and who will melt in your arms if you allow it. Caleb, is not only my husband, but also my second shooter. He’s much taller than me so he gets the faux drone shots while I guide you through our session! The four of us love exploring the beautiful rugged places that surround us and due to living full time in a van, we spend as much of our time camping and hiking as we can. My only disappointment in this sweet family is that I have to force Kyote to cuddle with me. She's literally the most energetic, independent, and stubborn pup. Reminds me a bit of myself. Finley? She’ll leave with you as her “new human companion”, no judgement or hesitation from Finn.

Caleb’s story is a little different than my own as he grew up in sunny SoCal with palm trees, sandy beaches, and hazy sunsets. He found his love for photography while exploring film in high school and making Youtube videos with his friends. Caleb moved to Colorado for college and we met through one of his college friends who just so happened moved in with me after her graduation. Our story began with many chairlift rides, snowboarding sessions, and making meals as a friend group. Caleb is the quieter of us two which also makes him more aware and mindful. He takes longer to jump into things which often reminds me to slow down just a tad. While he does not share my love for coffee, he enjoys peach tea and puts up with my high maintenance “let’s find good coffee” adventures. Caleb is a jack of all trades and has worked as a teacher, a dogsled guide, a hunting guide, and most recently an Alaskan commercial fisherman. He also built our home from an empty metal box to the cozy space it is today. Any good team takes two individuals who can compliment each others strength and Caleb is my grounding force in this wild life we live. Find us out on the road or deep in the mountains exploring with our pups!

Our greatest of all time list:

Tex-Mex + swing dancing, Drive the movie (the cinematography is unreal!), backpacking the Na Pali coastline Kalalau trail, cold plunging in alpine lakes, breakfast tacos and relaxing in a hot spring at sunrise, watching the sun set over the ocean from Dodgers Stadium, Oklahoma thunderstorms, Sweet Cow mint chocolate chip ice cream, Communal Coffee in Oceanside, all of the food in the IE (IYKYK) taking Sunday afternoon naps at grandmas with the ceiling fan whirring, and lastly Micah’s dad serenading the family with his guitar or fiddle before bed - Micah might have been the real Laura Ingalls Wilder.
